On Monday, Billie Eilish disclosed to her admirers that she had surreptitiously changed her hair color in November.

The “Happier Than Ever” singer went to Instagram to invite her followers to choose a random day from the previous year, and when Nov. 22 was selected, she posted a video of herself at a salon with blazing red hair. In the video, she tosses her head and makes a comical face as the hairdresser blows her hair.

Eilish captioned the video, “Took the blonde out and went red for a week, hehe,”

When a fan requested her to submit a photo of her hair dried and done from Nov. 23, the 20-year-old responded with a photograph.

The “Happier Than Ever” singer, who is renowned for experimenting with various looks, changed her hair color at least four times in 2021.

Eilish debuted her blonde hair in March before switching to a darker style in early December. It’s the first time she’s shown off her in-between red locks.

She used to have black hair with neon green roots before her hair makeovers.

Whatever the situation may be, she has previously said that she enjoys switching things up. “For everything I’ve ever done, I’ve had different-colored hair and vibes,” Eilish told Elle, “I wanted [Happier Than Ever] to have its own thing.”

“I shared a video from when I had green hair the other day, and I got a lot of comments saying, ‘I miss this Billie, the green-haired Billie.’ “I’m the same person I’ve always been.”

Another reason for the switch from vivid green to blonde was pragmatic, if not sad. “With that hair, I couldn’t go anywhere because it was so obviously me.” Eilish also told Elle, “I wanted anonymity.” There was greater freedom after hitting platinum. “I went to the park with a friend and said, ‘No, I can’t take off my hood!'” she added. “I was terrified of the paparazzi and the stalkers I’d been subjected to.” ‘Don’t worry, you’re OK,’ my pal assured me. ‘It’s not going to happen.’ And I pulled off my hood, and I felt like a whole different person.”

Eilish is up for seven Grammy awards at the 64th annual event, including album of the year and best pop vocal album for her second album, Happier Than Ever, as well as best music video for her accompanying documentary, Happier Than Ever: A Love Letter to Los Angeles. The title track of the album was also nominated for record and song of the year, best music video, and best pop solo performance.
