Fans have been following the drama surrounding Kim Kardashian and Kanye “Ye” West’s divorce for over a year.
Kardashian opted to put it all out on the table in a new interview with American Vogue, or at least as much of it as she’s comfortable telling us for now.
The designer of Skims talked out about how learning to put her own happiness first influenced her choice to divorce Kanye West last year.
“For a long time, I only did things that made other people happy.” And I believe I’ve resolved to make myself happy in the previous two years. And that feels extremely good,” the 41-year-old TV star told Vogue for her March 2022 cover story.
“Even though it resulted in changes and my divorce, I believe it is important to be honest with yourself about what makes you really happy. I’ve made the decision for myself. I believe it is OK to pick you.”
Kardashian said, “My forties are all about being on Team Me. I intend to eat healthily. I’m heading to the gym. I’m going to have more fun and spend more time with the people who make me happy, including my children. I’m going to put down my phone. Unfollow if I don’t want to see something on Instagram. [My sister] Khloé [Kardashian] came up with the best phrase for that yesterday. She said, ‘Post and ghost.'”
If only it were that simple. Despite the fact that Ye has constantly chastised her and pleaded with her to accept him back, his reaction to her cover was, “GOD PLEASE BRING OUR FAMILY BACK TOGETHER.”
We might presume that it was this instinct of self-preservation that caused Kardashian to criticize her ex-frequent husband’s usage of social media to remark on the facts of their feud on Instagram just this week.
Kardashian, who is the mother to eight-year-old North, six-year-old Saint, four-year-old Chicago, and two-year-old Psalm, went to Instagram to ask West to stop publicly harassing them, writing:
‘Kanye’s constant attacks on me in interviews and on social media is actually more hurtful than any TikTok North might create. As the parent who is the main provider and caregiver for our children, I am doing my best to protect our daughter while also allowing her to express her creativity.’
“It saddens me that Kanye continues to make it impossible every step of the way,” she said, adding, “Kanye’s obsession with trying to control and manipulate our situation so negatively and publicly is only causing further pain for all.”
After almost seven years of marriage, Kardashian filed for divorce from West in February 2021. She asked a court for permission to be proclaimed legally single at the conclusion of that year.
